The role

The Gael Og Probation Service is part of Action for Children Services that are based in Rail House, Inverness.

The service works in partnership with the Criminal Justice Social Work. Referred clients are subject to a range of statutory and non-statutory supervision, including, but not limited to: Community Payback Orders (either as part of a Supervision and/or a Programme requirement),  diversion from prosecution and structured deferred sentence. 

As a Young Person's Practitioner you will deliver a range of structured and tailored programmes to male and female clients  aged 16+.  The programmes complement the work of the Criminal Justice Social Work Service and the support clients receive in their local community. They are predominantly delivered on an individual one-to-one basis, however on occasion they can also be delivered in group settings. 

The targeted work aims to reduce offending and enable clients to develop competence in problem solving, social skills, and their ability to take action to prevent relapse and promote a pro-social lifestyle

You will make a difference by:

- Delivering and evaluating group and individual work aimed at supporting  the offender to develop their abilities through assessment, interventions, discussion, information and practical work on relationships.

- Assessing the offenders needs and to promote their health and wellbeing by providing appropriate activities and experiences; using accredited models.

- Preparing written reports on the offender for inter‑agency meetings, case conferences, and to contribute to reports as requested by the Case Manager.

You will need:

- SVQ 3 or HNC in Social Care or willingness to work towards.

- A UK driving licence and a willingness to travel due to the large rural catchment area.

- A Flexible approach to working to support the delivery of the service

- Excellent IT skills including outlook word and excel.

- The ability to build relationships and work as part of a multi- disciplinary team. 

- Experience in facilitating group work sessions desirable
