Children's Services Worker

Salary: £23,151.50 per annum

Location: Mold Office, working across Flintshire

Contract/Hours: Fixed Term until 31 March 2025 – 22.5 hours per week

A bit about the role

Flintshire Families Disability Service successfully provides support for children, young people, and their families based on their needs and choices. We provide opportunities and build links to enable social interaction and develop life skills while supporting their physical and emotional needs.

 As a Childrens Services Worker, you'll support the development of children and young people by creating fun and stimulating environments to enhance skills and promote emotional resilience and positive behaviour in group activities and one-to-one sessions at home, school and in the community. You'll also be delivering a consistent approach to family members using holistic interventions and listening to the needs of the family.

 

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Delivering appropriate interventions to children, young people or families on a 1:1 basis or in a group settings, with appropriate direction and participation, based on individual needs and choices.
  • Undertaking home, school, and community visits and meetings as advised.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships and channels of communications with colleagues and families to encourage, participate and promote involvement to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Being alert and ready to take action to protect and safeguard children and to inform appropriate line managers of concerns consistent with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Attending and actively participate in relevant multi-agency meetings.
  • Retaining accurate and detailed records in a timely manner, using various IT systems to capture case details, outputs and outcomes as necessary.
  • Ensuring familiarity and compliance with relevant Action for Children policies and procedure.

 

Let's talk about you

The attached job description outlines our a full range of requirements for our Children's Services Worker role, however some of our key ones are:

  • Excellent communication skills, diary management and report writing.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of supporting young people with disabilities and additional needs (no personal care or medication assistance is required for this role).
  • An understanding of managing caseloads including assessments and reviews.
  • The ability to represent the service in community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies.
  • Level 3 (or the willingness to work towards) in Health and Social Care, Childcare and Education or a relevant qualification in Youth Work, Education or Children's Service.
  • Empathy and dedication to work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families.
  • Access to a car with business insurance is desirable as the role requires the ability to travel across Flintshire according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
