Casual Residential Worker

About Us

The Vines is situated in High Wycombe, just minutes off the M40, 20 minutes off the M25 and well served by the local public transport network. In this warm and welcoming house, we provide residential short breaks that support children and young people with learning disabilities aged 11 to 19 who have complex behavioural needs.

Why Choose Us?

As one of our team members, you'll not only gain experience within one of the UK's leading children's charities but you'll also receive on-the-job and funded mandatory training to make sure you're equipped to do your role. You'll have exposure to a Residential setting and use your experience to boost your CV! Perhaps you're looking to return to work following time off or maybe you need a meaningful position to fend off monotony of too much spare time?

Whatever your motivation, we are looking for a number of casual staff members to join our supportive team at The Vines. You will bring your experience, can-do attitude and passion with you and help maintain the high standards already set by our wonderful team! Working hours tend to be set between 7am – 3pm or 2pm – 10pm but we really do have flexibility to offer you the hours that YOU need. And who knows where this role could lead?

You will make a difference by:

  • Assisting with case and care planning for the individual young people
  • Acting as a mentor to junior members of staff and helping lead the shift
  • Building strong relationships with the young people you are working with, adapting your approach where required
  • Promoting a safe environment, where young people can thrive and try out new experiences and have fun
  • Becoming part of the staff team and providing support for young people during their stay

You will be:

  • Flexible to work as part of a staff team on a rota
  • Experienced within working in a residential setting
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People qualified – desirable
  • Able to effectively, and safely, deal with children and young people with challenging behaviour
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experienced within a Care setting, with Disability experience highly desirable

The way we work
We work to make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential. If you share the same vision, we want you to join our team.
