Woodland Lodge is an 8 bedded service providing short breaks to children and their families aged 8 to 18 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities, behavioural needs and complex needs. The aim is to ensure that they provide a fun and productive day.As an Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the children, young people and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will also be supporting them with all aspects of their care and helping them to work on aims and goals both within Woodland Lodge and out in the community.
You will make a difference by:
- Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.- Providing a safe and fun environment to achieve positive outcomes.- Encouraging communication and participation across the service. - Promoting independence and supporting 1-1 sessions with children and young people. - Attending appointments and meetings. - Building excellent rapports with Service Users, their families and other care professionals.- Updating care plans and risk assessments.- Ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.
You will need:
- Experience of working with children or young people is preferable (experience of working with children with disabilities would be an advantage) but full training is provided.- Level 3 QCF Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this. - Working of own initiative - A positive and confident approach to engaging with the children and young people.- The ability to work effectively as part of a team. - A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).- A good standard of written English and the ability to make accurate notes for record keeping purposes.
