The roleAction for Children Cornwall SPACE is a Cornwall Council funded service providing Holiday Activities for disabled children and young people aged between 5 – 18 years. We offer disabled children and young people exciting new activities to try, providing families with an all-important short break service.
We also offer three youth groups for young disabled people between 13 – 25 years. We have services in the west, mid and east of the County. We are currently looking for a Young Persons Practitioner to work across the west of the county.You will make a difference by:-Working in a team to deliver the programme to groups of children and families.-Working collaboratively with parents/carers and children.-Providing children and families with information and skills to help them support their needs through a variety of challenges.-Empowering families to make positive changes.- Planning and executing activities and also encouraging active participation amongst service users. - Conducting assessments and updating relevant paperwork.You will need:- Relevant NVQ level 3 or previous experience working with children and families.-Exposure of working within the 5-25 year olds with learning disabilities would be an advantage.- Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices. - Creative, positive and proactive approach towards work. -Confidence to conduct 1-2-1 sessions and group work that support children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing. - To be able to work and travel across the west of the county.
