Circa Salary: £32,000

Fixed Term Contract until end of January 2023.  Full time – Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week.

Flexible working options, with some community based in Bradford and regular home working each week.

We are seeking an experienced enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated Health Practitioner/qualified midwife to join our committed and supportive team!

What does Action for Children do? 

Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.

Tell me about the service and the role 

‘Baby Steps' is an educational programme designed to support expectant parents through the emotional and physical transition of starting a family.  They run over 20 projects for expectant families and families with children aged 0-3, including reading, play, healthy cooking and eating, support in the home, English language skills and much more.

You will make a difference by:

- Delivering the Baby Steps Programme with a co facilitator (including home visits, facilitating group sessions and completing safeguarding assessments.

- Taking a lead on parts of the Baby Step programme, focussed education and information about pregnancy birth and the early-post natal period.

-Creating respectful relationships with parents where they feel safe to explore their hopes and ideas and how they want to parent to make healthy choices.

- Championing the service and maintaining a its positive image and profile.

-Building positive relationships with families and children.

-Working collaboratively with partner agencies.


You will need:

-Qualified midwife or equivalent qualification and experience,

-Experience of delivering target-based programmes or initiatives.

-Knowledge of Safeguarding.

- Experience of managing cases, in accordance with agreed procedures and completing assessments, planning and reviews to ensure positive outcomes.

- Ability to communicate effectively and engagingly.
