Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.
A little about the role and service:
Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership have identified a gap in service provision for a small number of young people on the edge of care, aged twelve years and over, requiring intensive, flexible support, including evenings and at weekends.
As part of a city-wide service across Glasgow, the Glasgow Intensive Family Support Service, will promote the wellbeing of children and young people and to support them to stay at home and thrive with their families within their local communities.
An assessment of need will be undertaken to identify needs, strengths and challenges that each family faces, the intensive interventions will involve advice, guidance, parenting support, 1:1 work with children and liaising with partner agencies.
The Family Support Workers will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with families to support and enable positive change and to improve outcomes. You'll join a team with an opportunity to work supporting and providing outcomes to families.
You will be required to have a flexible approach to working.
You will help our Children and Young People by:
-Achieving the highest standards of safeguarding, whether through direct care provision or support activities to the children and young people who come into contact with our services, or by appropriately reporting concerns about any child or young person.
-Promote our equality and diversity strategy locally, including linking with local equality and diversity frameworks to ensure best practice and to inform and develop appropriate action plans.
-Working collaboratively with colleagues and families to achieve positive outcomes.
-Listening to children, young people and families.
-Working in an integrated way as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
What are we looking for from you:
-SVQ 3 in social care or equivalent.
-Working within a multi-agency social care, early years or health environment and applying safeguarding procedures
-Experience of working alongside case holders to manage cases, in accordance with agreed procedures and completing assessments, planning and reviews to ensure positive outcomes
-Experience of working with vulnerable families and a broad understanding of their barriers.
-Understanding of safeguarding.
-Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through presentations.
-Driving licence and access to a suitable means of transport to carry out the duties of the role effectively.
