We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Employment Facilitator to join our team based in Edinburgh. This is an exciting and rewarding role with the opportunity to make a huge personal impact.

You will be instrumental in maximising and coordinating opportunities within the local community to maximise employment prospects, providing a rewarding and meaningful experience and adding value to service provision.


The role

Our service provides support for young people aged 16-24 who are facing a range of challenges and barriers. We deliver a tailored service for individuals who are at risk of poverty, accommodation/housing issues, childcare, finances, debt, family/relationship issues, justice system and mental health.

The day-to-day job involves meeting young people at various locations across Edinburgh, delivering SQA & vocational training whilst supporting personal development and future employment opportunities.

The service provides support to young people aged 16-24, who have a range of barriers or needs to make positive choices for their future.  By using a range of programmes and tools you will work with the team to support and prepare them with their first steps into the world of employment or further education

The successful applicant will directly support and deliver a range of both practical and vocational employability programmes aimed at young people aged 16-24 to access, maintain and sustain employment through the provision of a comprehensive in-house training programme and work placement, supported through a key worker approach for up to 6 months from securing employment.  

  - A current driving license and access to a car to enable the duties of the role to be carried out effectively.

You'll significantly improve young people's lives and make a difference by:

 - Offering individualised support for each young person identified in line with his/her needs over various timescales whilst assisting with various learning difficulties, dyslexia/ADHD

 - Motivating and encouraging young people, building on their existing skills to increase their confidence in areas such as independent travel, opening bank accounts, healthy living, CV and employability workshops.

 - Building rapport with young people on a 1:1 basis or within a group setting delivering SQA & sector lead training .i.e. construction, hospitality & retail.

 - Delivering complexed and specialist interventions with young people on a 1:1 basis, group or community setting.

 - Identifying areas of support, setting achievable goals, promoting inclusion and allowing for individual learning styles to progress into sustainable employment.

 - Managing caseloads of young people, providing a range of targeted interventions to assist their entry into training, further education & .employment

You will need:

 - To be committed, passionate and motivated. We are, and we want you to be too.

 - Desirable SVQ 3/HNC level or previous experience working and engaging with challenging young people/youth groups aged 16-24 preferably gained within a similar project or employability sector.

 - The ability to engage and have an understanding of young people from a wide range of backgrounds.

 - The ability to work in partnership with a wide range of organisations forming strong relationships with support services

 - Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.

 - A current driving license and access to a car to enable the duties of the role to be carried out effectively.

 - Have experience of facilitating group work and also one to one work
