Shifts: Days (7am to 11am), Afternoons (2pm to 10pm), Nights (10pm to 9am) and your rota always one month in advance.

We're hiring a number of Assistant Residential Workers to work various shift patterns, making this ideal for those seeking flexible opportunities.

 

Tell me about the service

Our Vale of Glamorgan Short Breaks Project in Barry provides residential short breaks, community outreach services and Domiciliary Care for the most vulnerable disabled children and young people aged from 6 to 18 years in the Barry, Penarth and Sully. The service is centrally located with great public transport links all around, only a 5 minute walk from Cadoxton train station! We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated individuals to join our committed, dedicated and supportive team! These are excellent opportunities to support activities and sessions providing quality care for children in need across Barry, Penarth and Sully.

 

The role

As an Assistant Residential Worker, you'll join the friendly team to provide sessional support to children and young people out in the community. You'll be a key role model to the people we support, you'll help children to develop essential life skills and grow in confidence! These positions are extremely rewarding and inspiring and have a huge impact in shaping and changing the lives of the children and young people. These roles allow you to work within a dedicated team across all elements of the service; so as well as working in the community, you'll also support children in their own home and on overnight stays within Vale Short Breaks to undertake activities.

 

Key responsibilities

- Getting involved in lots of fun activities! Undertaking sessional work with young people out in the community (leisure activities, park visits, rugby, shopping trips).
- Taking responsibility for the personal care and daily routines of the young people.
- Supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Being responsible for the safeguarding of young people.

- Supporting young people during overnight stays within the Vale while taking part in activities.

- Help coach young people to develop essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning and money matters

 

You will need/what will you bring?

- Experience of working with children or young people.
- Level 3 QCF in Social Care or happy to work toward this after your probation.

- Registration or willingness to register with Social Care Wales which we will support you with.

- You don't have to be a driver but you do need the get-up-and-go to make the most of the public transport in Barry, Penarth and Sully.
