The Vines is a short break residential service for children and young people aged between 11yrs -19yrs with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. We strive and work towards providing top tiered person – centred care. We also hold various activities on a day to day basis to encourage social experiences and promote equality and diversity throughout the service. In addition to using our own facilities and grounds we support children and young people to access activities within local community settings.
As a Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the Children, Young People and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will support with all aspects of care required. Shift patterns are 7am - 3pm or 2pm -10pm over a 7 day a week rota. We also have the occasional requirement for sleep in shifts for which you are paid an additional allowance. You will make a difference by:
- Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.- Providing a safe and fun environment to achieve positive outcomes.- Encouraging communication and participation across the service.- Promoting independence.- Attending appointments and meetings.- Building excellent rapports with Service Users, their families and other care professionals.- Updating care plans and risk assessments.You will need:
- Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage).- Level 3, Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.- Working of own initiative.- A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.- A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).- A good standard of written English and the ability to make accurate notes for record-keeping purposes.
