Action for Children

Salary: £11 per hour

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part-Time (either 7 hours per week all year round or 10 hours a week if term time)

Location: Guernsey, Channel Islands

About Us 

Action for Children's team in Guernsey provides a variety of unique and innovative services to children, young people and families.  Our Youth Housing service provides accommodation and support for young people generally between the ages of 16-25 who are experiencing various difficulties in their lives

 

As accommodation issues rarely occur in isolation, our team also creatively offers support and various levels of intervention with related difficulties and challenges such as Substance Abuse (Drugs and Alcohol), Domestic Abuse, Employability, Mental Health issue etc, Family Mediation and Offending Behaviour including occasional Prison work etc.

As an Administrative Officer you will deliver an effective, efficient, administrative service that is flexible to meet the needs of our substance use education team to enable the service to achieve agreed service objectives. This will include booking lessons, inputting feedback from students and sharing our activities and impact with the wider community.

 

 As an Administrative Officer, you'll be: 

  • Providing a range of administrative and front of house services
  • Organising and progressing the full range of activities associated with business meetings including refreshments, agenda preparation, minuting and progress chasing agenda items and follow up actions
  • Providing written, verbal and e-correspondence to internal and external contacts
  • Undertaking desk top research on behalf of colleagues and management to inform responses to correspondence received or to enable the completion of specific reports.
  • Producing presentations, written and financial reports for management, including formatting of information and data, which is consistent with organisational and regulatory
  • Maintaining systems and databases to enable the extraction, tracking and presentation of accurate information.

 

What You'll Bring: 

Our job description for the Administrative Officer outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are: 

  • Business Administration NVQ Level 2 or equivalent work experience
  • Good IT skills to include MS Windows, Office and business applications
  • Experienced with providing a confidential and professional administration service
  • Effective communication written and oral to a range of different colleagues
  • Confidence and competency to take responsibility for a project or task and deliver within agreed timescales
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn new processes and demonstrate good practice to others
  • Proven track record of liaising with senior external stakeholders to co-ordinate key activities
